The Student Research Festival is an annual event organized by the faculty and students at the Institute of English Cultures and Literatures, in cooperation with the Institute of English since 2013. The main aim of the Festival is to grant students the opportunity to share their academic interests and provide a platform enabling dialogue between those interested in the exchange of thoughts and research perspectives.

Ever since its inception, the Festival has become a space of stimulating debate and academic discussion for both those who consider their future in the academia and those who wish to share their projects which combine their passions with their scholarly interests.

We would like to cordially invite all students who want to participate in the Seventh Student Research Festival, which will take place on May 16th, 2019, to submit their presentation abstracts (200 words) and short bio notes (50 words) to This email address is being protected from spambots. In the current academic year students of the University of Silesia who are interested in the culture and history of medieval Scandinavia are being offered a unique chance to participate in three different modules taught by leading scholars from the University of Iceland in Reykjavik and the University of Oslo.

This possibility of studying the society, culture, beliefs and literature of the Viking-age Scandinavia has been made possible due to academic co-operation of the University of Silesia and its partners in Iceland and Norway. The co-operation and student and staff mobility is taking place under the auspices of the so-called Norway Grants (The Stipend and Scholarship Fund / Fundusz Stypendialny i Szkoleniowy). The programme also involves student exchange and the participants of the modules will be able to develop their interest further by applying for one term exchange in Reykjavik and Oslo.
