Dr Norbert Bugeja is Senior Lecturer in Postcolonial Studies at the Mediterranean Institute, University of Malta. He has published extensively in the fields of postcolonial and Mediterranean literary studies, including in-depth readings of novels and memoirs by of Orhan Pamuk, Mourid Barghouti, Tahar Ben Jelloun, Hisham Matar, as well as the politics of post-2011 Tunisia. He has guest-edited two special issues of CounterText for Edinburgh University Press (‘Afterward / Afterword’, August 2018; ‘Postcolonial Springs’, April 2015). His book-length monograph Postcolonial Memoir in the Middle East was published by Routledge in 2012. He is currently General Editor of the Journal of Mediterranean Studies and convenes the Masters (Research) in Mediterranean Studies at the University of Malta. He has lectured at the universities of Warwick (UK), Kent (UK) and Malta, and was awarded a Ph.D. in Postcolonial Studies from the University of Warwick in 2011. He has published two collections of poetry in Maltese, Bliet (Cities, 2009) and Nartici (Narthex, 2016).
