Irish Day at the Institute of English Cultures and Literatures

The Institute of English Cultures and Literatures and Irish Culture Foundation are pleased to invite you to the Irish Day. We are happy to announce that the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland in Poland, His Excellency Gerard Keown has agreed to be our guest.

The Ambassador will open an exhibition entitled "Irish Revival" arranged by the Irish Culture Foundation and also participate in the events organised in the main building of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Silesia (Sosnowiec, Gen. Stefana Grota-Roweckiego 5).

The Irish Day will be held on December, 4 (Monday). The events will start at 9am. You can find the full programme of the events below.

The Irish Day – programme

In the main hall:

9:00 am – registration of the participants from outside the University
9:30 am – Welcome; preliminary information for participants
9:40 am – Opening Addresses by President of the University of Silesia, Director of IECL and Vice-President of ICF (in Polish)
10:00 am – Speech by HE, the Irish Ambassador to Poland, Mr Gerard Keown; the official opening of "The Irish Revival" exhibition
10:30 am – a meeting between HE, the Irish Ambassador to Poland, Mr Gerard Keown and President of the University of Silesia

11:30 pm – a display of Irish computer games prepared by undergraduate and postgraduate students (circa 90 minutes)
